All over the Internet, and throughout big box jewelers, people hawk diamonds touting their color, clarity and cut. Nonsense. What makes a beautiful diamond...what takes your breath away when you see it...is the internal refraction of rays of light. This is dependent on what a truly knowledgeable gemologist refers to as the 'make' of the stone. The make refers to how well the stone was cut into its shape. And this is anything but simple. The skill involved in cutting stones ranges just like any other craft. But a true master, like the cutters we buy from exclusively, can achieve perfection in symmetry and proportion. This is from whence the fire, scintillation and brilliance comes. So be warned—you can look at two diamonds that purport to be the same quality via their rating, and one be missing some major magic to your eye. Trust a real diamond expert. —Bob Slaydon |
BOB SLAYDON “Tanzanite is an extraordinary gemstone. You need to see it. It’s found in only one place in the world. It’s blue, and what a wonderful blue, with a fine hint of purple. It’s a fantastic color…” please read the rest of the story of tanzanite, right here. |
